I doubt anyone has been wondering where I've been for the past year or so, but I have locked myself the the proverbial basement looking for the Content Management "answer." I've gotten a pretty big website, and it's become a pain to keep it together. So, after reading lots of books and thinking about it a lot, I was going to write "the ultimate CMS system." Handily for me, while I was in the planning stages, I found a CMS system called Lenya that looks like it has everything I was going to put in my system. Pretty amazing. My host is taking their sweet time installing it, though, so I don't know if it will be all it's cracked up to be.

The only reason I'm updating this site now is because I'm posting a few DDR movies that someone at the arcade wanted to have. You can find that page here.

Lately, most people have just been going to my Ellen Feiss page or hotlinking from my wallpaper collection. My Ellen Feiss movie uses more of my bandwidth, as it has been downloaded over 80,000 times, but the hotlinking people are making me mad. I'm still not sure what I should do. My host offers "hotlinking protection," so I guess I'll try to get that going some time. But on the other hand, I could just change the name of the pictures. Still, those people are giving me a place on their website (often a wallpaper-sized area) and since I own the file, I could change it and post whatever I wanted. On one site, a guy says "look at my new car," and has my Mercedes-Benz SLR wallpaper. I'm very tempted to replace the picture with some old junker.

However, I don't want to be mean. I just want to save a little bandwidth. The wallpaper is free, and anyone can take as many as they like. The bandwidth is not free, and I don't have a problem with it unless people start taking advantage of it. Still, whether I want to be mean or not, there's no gentle way to pull the plug.

Also, I did a little investigation into where these people are coming from, and I found that if you type "slr" into the Google image search, my wallpaper comes out on the first page. It's kinda nice being on page 1 of a Google search (not the first time it's happened, BTW).
